RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction –

(Road Construction and Maintenance)

This qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator working with civil construction, who applies a broad range of skills in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge.  The qualification applies to specialist occupations in Road Construction and Maintenance.

It is recommended that participants should:

  • Be at least 15 years of age (for units with a licensed outcome, the participant must be at least 18 years at the time of assessment); and
  • Be employed within the civil construction industry

Within the road construction and maintenance specialisation, areas of learning include:

  • manual excavation and levelling
  • concreting
  • implementing a traffic management plan
  • installation of signs and roadside fixtures
  • repairing damaged surfaces
  • maintenance of bitumen surfaces
  • safe disposal of infrastructure materials
  • drainage and dewatering
  • excavation

On successful completion of the course students will receive a full qualification as well as any additional licenses completed competently through electives undertaken.
